My friend and aromatherapist, Amy Reedman, introduced me to the 3 C's; courage, curiosity and compassion. I loved this concept, and after some consideration, I came up with how the 3 C's apply to what I do. Here it is;
Courage is about showing up, making a commitment to your health and well-being, for listening to your heart, knowing that you want the best for your body, mind and spirit. You show courage when you make the first step towards your health and well-being. That first step can be anything from making your own lunch to walking around the block. If you have a hard time getting started, your first step could be contacting a friend who may want to go for a walk with you.
I invite you to be curious about what it is that you really want. If it’s weight loss you want, be curious about how it would feel to have lost the weight already. Would you feel better about yourself? Happier? More acceptable? Would you have more self confidence? What do you really want for yourself? Do you want to make changes in your life? If so, what would those changes look like? What if you could feel these things right now, and make those changes right now, without having to lose any weight?
Having compassion for yourself is to hold yourself in a space of love, and to give to yourself-your body, mind, and spirit-that which you need. In terms of creating better health and well-being, it is about nourishing and nurturing yourself with healthy foods that are right for you, exercise you enjoy doing, rest, sleep, water, time to yourself and having balance in your life. It is about listening to your body, respecting its wisdom, giving it what it needs and trusting yourself enough to know that you can do this. It is about enjoying vitality and energy. It is about being happy in the now. It is about self appreciation and thinking self supportive thoughts. Being healthy is a state of being where you know and appreciate your body, mind and spirit.
